When life gets hard...Meditate...

I know we are all waiting for life to get better, easier...not so busy. We start something, like meditation or think about it because we have heard about all the cool benefits, and then we say "life got in the way". How Human of us...


Yet, if you just slow it down a little in this moment and really compassionately think about it - did life really get in the way? Or was life just being life?


Just because life gets busy and crazy and hard sometimes and we might not like it that way, doesn't mean that it's getting in the way.


Could it be that life is just showing you, brilliantly and yes often in a not so easy way, otherwise we would continue to numb out, that we need to pay attention, wisen up & maybe even providing a rich context for our life. It's like life, in those hard moments, is actually custom designed for you, me, all of us to wake up and pay attention and it is these practices, like meditation, that allow us to do the waking up in those hard moments...or receive the gift of them. In the slowness...in the calmness we see the gifts.


I know it's not easy to sit your cute butt down on the seat when life is hard and whirling frantically around you. I know the mind and heart are racing even more in these times...but it is in these times we need it most. It is in these hard times that it serves us even more. Quieting the mind, even a little, in those hard and dark moments might just be exactly what we need. I know there was a time when I would let a busy life or hard moments get in the way of my practice and now I've gotten just a wee bit wiser to understand how vital it is in these hard moments. It is the foundation to go through them and grow through them. So...


When life gets busy...I meditate...

When life throws me multiple tasks and deadlines...I meditate first...

When life just seems like it's too much...I meditate...I know I need to slow it all down a little.

When what's happening out there in the world is overwhelming...I meditate...to connect to what is real within...

When I need to heal...I meditate, as it shifts my body into a healing state...(which is very cool!)

When life gets hard...I meditate baby...I get my cute butt on the seat even when it's not so easy to do so...


For you see when you do, when you calm the brain and mind even a little, you can come from a place of a bit more quiet, a bit more certainty, a confidence and a sureness that only comes from within you. A quiet calm strength within you. It's always there, it always will be, yet you keep seeking it in everything outside of you. And to that I always like to say, compassionately: How's that working for you?


Be well this day dearest and find a moment to quiet your lovely mind, even a little means you've succeeded...
